As simple as the setup is, as pragmatic is the planning algorithm’s solution for coordinating production deadlines: All production orders are automatically planned by the planning system against finite capacity. To do this, you define your machines (or resources), set up a shift plan and give each production order a target date that determines its priority – the rest is done by the rescheduling system. This schedules all production orders backwards or forwards against the target date. The result is a constantly updated overview of all orders and their end dates as well as the utilization of your machines/resources.
